Louis Alarcon has now led over 25 photo tours in Cuba during the recent years. The country is changing, and adapting to those changes is a must. It is for this reason that we will be adding new photography activities in our upcoming photo tours to Cuba in 2024 and 2025.
Experience has shown our traveler/friends have particularly enjoyed the visits to our friends’ homes, the opportunity to have meals with Cuban families, and all the activities that imply a more direct contact with the Cuban people, and visiting places tourists often don’t.

During the upcoming photo tours in Cuba in 2024 and 2025 we will continue performing street photography, sessions with dancers, boxing training, landscape photographs, portfolio critiques, visits to Cuban photography schools, visiting artists at their studios or homes, architecture, historical places, etc.
In our photo tours in Cuba we get involved in a very human and personal experience, which is why we will keep staying at official Cuban rental homes (a la Bed & Breakfast), with full independence and all of the comforts of a hotel, but sharing common areas of the home with Cuban families. In this manner, we manage for you to get a better grasp on the way Cuban people live, in addition to accomplishing great savings over the costs of the trip.

The questionnaire we give our travelers at the end of the tour point out new paths to follow in our upcoming photo tours to Cuba in 2024 and 2025. Without a doubt, the day we spend on the countryside is one of the favorite activities, especially the time we spend in small farmer neighborhoods doing portraits and indoor photographs in these peculiarly decorated humble homes.
After more than 20 years in Cuba, and guiding over 200 travelers/photographers, I have to acknowledge that the naturalness of the people of the countryside, the landscapes of these towns, and the lifestyle that is so different from that of a city, are fascinating to the traveler visiting Cuba on a photo tour.
Additionally, the gastronomy at rural areas is spectacular; this is one of the most valued aspect by travelers of all nationalities.
One of my photography series is especially dedicated to life on the cuban countryside, which can be seen at the following link
"Living in the country side" a personal photo essay.
Havana is a large metropolis where we spend 70% of our tour. This will stay the same on our photo tours in Cuba in 2017 and 2018. Other photo tours in Cuba travel many miles to visit a number of cities, but in my experience, the success of a trip usually lies in comfort and in a peaceful journey, away from the typical tourism trips where you sleep at a different city each night.
Our upcoming photo tours in Cuba in 2019 and 2020 are designed to deeply get to know a country and a culture, not to skim over a number of places.

Flexibility and exclusive trips: Our day to day is very relaxed and flexible. There are several daily photography activities prepared and a schedule to be followed, but experience tells us sometimes, photographic adventures we stumble upon on the streets will captivate us and have us slightly change our plans. This is the magic of Cuba, a country where people usually live without fixed schedules, as they do in the US or Europe.
In our Photo Tours in Cuba in 2019 and 2020, the groups will still be limited to 5 travelers, and under special circumstances they may be up to 7 people. This will enable us to access places where it would be impossible to enter if the group were larger. Photography is ultimately a lonely act, and almost impossible to do successfully if we are part of a large group of people.
The travel agency in charge of the sale of these trips may be the one that is most specialized in Cuba. Locally Sourced Cuba is a 21st-century travel agency that has perfectly grasped the type of trip we offer, away from the touristy themes which still comprise most of the trips sold in Cuba.
To sum up: We updated our photo tours in Cuba in 2024 and 2025 taking into account all comments and proposals by hundreds of travelers who have traveled with us.
